Hide is a mirror that fits in the hallway, the bedroom, the living room and the bathroom. The oval mirror rests in a frame of thick, natural-coloured leather. This frame recalls the concept of skin; a skin which is also an envelope for the body. As it hangs on the wall, the mirror looks like a teardrop, a well-known organic and classic form.

A mirror is an image, a face, an opening. It is right there on the wall. It is here in the room; yet, it is giving us access to another world. It is an entrance. In the mirror, we see ourselves from the outside. We stare back at ourselves, as if with someone else’s gaze. We find ourselves in the mirror. But who is this 'self'?

As a word 'hide' refers both to the skin and to the desire to hide from your reflection. It may be that we see ourselves in the mirror, but it is also where we seek to be different, to be others. To put on clothes. To dress up. To apply makeup. To do our hair.
