Design By Dane is a Danish design studio with a mission to create interior products with an underlying basis in Nordic aesthetics, high quality and innovative thinking.

The design studio is established in 2015 and has its base in the creative environment in Aarhus. Here, among craftsmen and creative souls and through reciprocal knowledge sharing and inspiration Design By Dane sets the framework for the furniture design of the future.

A common Scandinavian idiom imbues our designs. We strive to think design in a simple way – think in new functions and surprising details, when we develop furniture and accessories adjusted for the needs of our time. We shape our pieces and work in materials that emphasises the idiom we stand for. We combine materials like wood, glass, leather and metals to create exciting and different expressions in our selection.

The core in our designs lies in the need of the user, and by thinking differently we want to advance contemporary Danish furniture design with our pieces. Our aim is to design modern furniture and accessories, that fulfil both functional and aesthetic needs of the users. In example, this can be manifested in furniture for small homes in the growing European metropolises, but it can also be the art of developing a simple piece of furniture to the quality conscious consumer.

The designer behind Design By Dane is the Danish furniture maker Mikkel Vandborg, who has been working with furniture design for more than 10 years. The company took its origin in a small workshop in Aarhus, and today Design By Dane has grown into a design studio, that collaborates with experienced furniture manufacturers in productional matters and distribution of the designs.
